China Glaze White Cap and Models Own Indian Ocean

Don't forget the giveaway!

I started with a base of OPI My Pointe Exactly and over that a layer of Models Own Indian Ocean. It was a bit too sheer so I added another layer of Indian Ocean and put a layer of China Glaze White Cap over all that.  The shimmer in Indian Ocean is more pronounced in reality but I like the mix of the gold and raspberry shimmer with the hint of grey/blue from the base colors.

Color Appreciation: Blue Creme Polishes

Hello! I hope that 2012 greeted you in a good way. Laura gave me the idea of doing a color appreciation post and I decided to start with blue. Blue is a close second to green as being a favorite polish color for me and there are a number of different ones that I really like. It will blue all week and I decided to start it off by showing a few blue creme polishes that I enjoy.

Barry M Cyan Blue

Barry M Cobalt Blue

Essie Shelter Island

Models Own Betty Blue

Petites Color Fever Creme Blue

Sally Hansen Pacific Blue

Sally Hansen Gray by Gray - not exactly blue on me but it does have a blue tinge.

Models Own Grace Green

A lovely soft sage green creme. Wonderful formula.

I'm really wanting Zoya Gemma from their new collection but I thought that I could possibly dupe the look. I layered CND Effects Ice Blue Shimmer and I think I did a good job going by photos. Probably won't keep me from buying it but maybe it will help you out.

Models Own Emerald City

This doesn't pack the punch for me that Scarlet Sparkle packs. Still really pretty and suprisingly easy to remove for a glitter. It's not a true emerald but more of a teal shade. I put this over a dark green polish but it could easily be worn alone.

Models Own Scarlet Sparkle

I bought Scarlet Sparkle because I love red and I needed an odd number when I ordered. I was expecting to be lukewarm about it. I have to say that I love it. Like really, really love it. It's smooth, doesn't eat top coat and has a golden red color as opposed to a cherry red color. It reminds me of Essie Ruby Slippers with that golden red feel - it's not a dupe just a cousin. I put it on and went "Ooo pretty!" and that is always a good sign.

I put two coats over Nars Dovima.

Models Own Nude Beige

Nude Beige makes my fingers look elegant and long. Love that and the formula was really nice too. *ahem* If anyone in the UK wants to arrange for a swap so I can get my hands on some more Models Own polishes I wouldn't be opposed. Like, oh say, the Car Key collection.

This happened a bit later in the day. It's on my right hand (which you all rarely see) and I refuse to cut the rest. A cabinet door attacked me. It was awful and I am lucky to walk away alive!

I decided to add glitter so I put Revlon Street Wear Nightmare over it.

Models Own Purple Rain

I have come to the conclusion that I will always have untrieds in my collection. Always! If I stopped buying polish for six months I may not have any untrieds but that isn't going to happen. Models Own Purple Rain was from the 50% off sale they had a bit back. I know the name is Purple Rain but for some reason I thought this was blue but it is indeed purple. A rich deep purple creme. I really like this one but it didn't wear very well. In fact, six hours into wearing it the polish on one of my nails peeled off in one sheet. Still - very pretty and look at that shine!

Models Own Pink Explosion

I don't like this one. I have no idea why I bought it but I thought it would look different. I don't know why I thought it would look different but I just did. I didn't realize it would be so bright and scream pink. I like the glitter in it but that is about it.

It also makes my skin look slightly dirty. Very odd.

Models Own Green Flash

Green Flash is a peridot green shimmery foil. I was suprised that the formula was so nice. Foil polishes can be touchy but this was two coats with no problems.

I decided to stamp over it using the leaf pattern on plate BM19 and a green stamping polish from Konad.

I feel like it needs glitter. Hmm.
