Butter London 2013 Summer Holiday Collection

I'm a fan of Butter London and I like that I can usually get them with a coupon code or through a sale. It makes the price tag a bit easier to swallow. I saw that b-glowing had the 2013 Summer Holiday collection and since I had a coupon I bought them. I am a bit iffy on the collection as a whole. They are all pretty but nothing new or exciting. I find it kind of boring especially considering the amazing holiday colors they recently released. I loved all of those but these not so much. I do like them but I suggest waiting for a sale if you do fall in love with one but I think these could be duped from other brands that are on the cheaper side.

Bit Faker is an opaque mix of browns, bronze and orange/red glitter. This is one coat with topcoat.

Bobby Dazzler is a pewter/tarnished silver with hint of a lilac undertone. It's very reflective and has a wonderful formula for a chrome polish. It wears well too. I wore this one for close to two days and except for the pointer finger it looks good. This is two coats but I could have done one easily.

Champers is a champagne shimmer. It's a very flattering color on me. This is two coats. The second photo is blurred to show the shimmer better.

Marbs is a bright gold shimmer. It looks oddly green toned on me in reality. I'm not the biggest fan of this one but I can see it looking amazing on someone with darker skintone - which is about 90% of the population. This is two coats.

Poole is the odd man out with this collection. They are all metallic in nature except for Poole which is a dusty aqua creme. The formula is not perfect in that it doesn't self level completely. You can see some creasing in the below photos. The first photo is color correct. It reminds me of other dusty green/blue/aqua colors polishes. This is three coats.

Sun Baker is a vibrant orange shimmer. I like this one! It's very juicy and bright and cheerful. This is two coats.

Orly Boho Bonnet

I had to take Thom to the vet yesterday because he was clawing at his mouth and growling and hissing. I thought at first that he was choking so I stuck my finger into his mouth to check. He wasn't choking but I did notice that he has a nasty looking tooth in his mouth. Poor fuzzbutt. He is on antibiotics and will return to the vet on Friday morning to have a tooth (or two) pulled and some extensive cleaning done. I do have to say that Thom is a stud! He was so very good at the vet and is taking his pills without complaint. It doesn't hurt that I offer him chicken before and after but he is just a sweetheart.

This is a lovely polish. It's both blue and grey with a soft but not stark look on the nail. I planned on putting some glitter over it but never got the chance.

Look at that face! So sweet.

Essie Maximillian Strasse Her

Essie Maximillian Strasse Her is a sage green with little hints of blue. It's a lovely color and I had no issues with the formula. The below is two coats with topcoat.

Orly Coachella Dweller

Sometimes a nice creme is what is needed. Coachella Dweller is from the newest Orly collection and it has a sort of soft diffused look on the nail. This is two coats with topcoat.

Butter London Stag Do

Stag Do is exclusive to Nordstrom and I have no idea if it will be available else where. In the bottle it's this amazing murky green/teal with awesome shimmer. On the nail it is a dark slate blue teal creme with a tiny, tiny, tiny hint of shimmer. Basically this polish is a big fat liar! It looks nothing like the bottle on the nail. I don't totally regret buying it but I will say that if you have any creme polishes in this shade and a few shimmer toppers you can easily pass on this.

Bottle. See that shimmer? Gorgeous.

Don't be fooled though because here it is on the nail. A dark slate teal blue creme. LIAR! It does have a beautiful creamy formula but I wanted that amazing shimmer to be more visible. To be fair the description online does say slight shimmer. Still. Hmph.

Butter London Sprog

This polish photographs blue which some purple shades tend to do. I had to tweak the color in Photoshop and what I see on my monitor is the color I see on my nails. I would say it is 95% color accurate. I say this because I have seen a photo or two of this polish on other blogs and it looks way more blue than it is. When my hands are near something blue the color looks more purple and when my hands are near something purple the color looks more blue. Magic!

Sprog has a slight grey dusty quality to it so it looks muted even though it is vibrant on the nail. It leans more toward the purple spectrum of periwinkle. I haven't compared them but, from memory, it reminds me of Orly Cashmere Cardigan and/or Essie Boxer Shorts. I'm pretty sure they aren't dupes but cousins. I had no issues with the formula and found it to be very, very nice to apply. Creamy and smooth.

I bought this from Butter London. I love the color and formula and the name is a winner for me. My Mom used to introduce me and my brother as her sprogs to people. Ha!

Essie Bikini So Teeny

This was the only polish I bought from the Essie 2012 Summer collection. Periwinkle is one of my favorite colors and it's not a color you see very often in nail polish. Bikini So Teeny has a stupid name but the soft delicate periwinkle color is so lovely. It's both muted and vibrant. It's magic! In the bottle it has shimmer but it's non-existent once on the nail so I classify it as a creme. The formula is thin and I needed three coats to get opaque but I didn't have any issues with application.

Any periwinkle polishes that you can suggest? I'd love to hear them! My apologies for the tip wear!

Bettina Sand Blast

I have a few Bettina polishes and I've been very, very pleased with the formula on the creme polishes. They are smooth, silky and go on wonderfully. Sand Blast (from the Jeans Collection) is a light grey with just a smidge of blue. It's soft and light but not stark at all. It's very refreshing.

I bought this by sending an email to janetmrosado@gmail.com. It's been awhile so I can't remember the price but I do remember it being smooth and painless to purchase.

Nails Inc Battersea Park

I really like this green. The formula is divine and it's murky but still has a bright quality to it.

Jessica Cosmetcs Spring 2012 Awakening Collection

The Awakening collection from Jessica Cosmetics is the Spring 2012 offering. All six shades have this soft and comfortable feel. They remind me of linens that are a bit old but feel so incredibly good to sleep on because they are so cozy and well worn. Some of the colors remind me of colors from the Zoya Feel collection. Most have a great formula and dry shiny. The colors aren't unique and it's not a ground breaking or exciting collection but I have to admit that I like it as a whole.

Soar is a lovely warm rosey beige nude. It's very flattering on me. This reminds me of Zoya Kennedy. Two coats for this one.

Sky High is a faded periwinkle blue with a hint of grey. Pretty and it reminds me of Zoya Kristen. Two coats.

Flutter looks like chocolate milk the way I drink it. Yum! Two coats.

Monarch is a darker taupe with hints of a green undertone on me. In some lights I see grey. Two coats.

Wing It is a yellow beige nude type of color. Formula was a bit thick on this one but thinner will fix that. Reminds me of Zoya Farah. Three coats for this one.

Sunrise is a lovely orange with silver shimmer woven through it. This is my favorite of the group and it's the only non-creme. It almost looks like it has a hint of pink to the base but it's warm looking. Two coats for this but I could have done one.
