Maybelline Color Show Rose Bling

This was a pain in the ass to apply. It has the same formula as Cocktail Dress and Lavender Sparkle but a bit drier and more gel like in feel. The dry texture made it fussy and the glitter stuck to anything it touched so getting it off the skin was a bitch. It's a bit too thick to layer so wearing it alone worked out well. I think I'm going to have to throw some thinner in these and see what happens. It is pretty and sparkly and it doesn't eat topcoat so it's totally bad.

Happy Halloween to you!

Maybelline Color Show Lavender Sparkle

Raffle/Giveaway is still going on!

Lavender Sparkle is another from the Maybelline Color Show Sequins collection. You can see Cocktail Dress here. This one has the same formula and I figured out that it reminds me of gel. It's not a bad formula just a bit on the drier side but it doesn't need thinner. It's interesting. I'm also discovering that these can be worn without a base color - love that!

This is two coats over OPI Care to Danse. This doesn't eat topcoat like Cocktail Dress but it does require some elbow grease to remove. It's very tenacious.

Maybelline Color Show Cocktail Dress

Have you entered the raffle/giveaway??

I spotted the Maybelline Color Show Sequins collection display at Rite Aid. I was kind of shocked because I rarely find limited edition drugstore collections but this Rite Aid has been really on the ball of late with nail polish. Lucky me it is my Rite Aid and I am there at least once a week. Woot! I ended up buying all but the silver and gold polishes from the Sequin collection and I wore Cocktail Dress first.

This polish confuses me. It looks like black glitter with orange bits in the bottle but once on the nail I can see it is a dusty black or a charcoal glitter with muted red larger glitter pieces. The formula is dense and I didn't need to wear a base color and I found it had a dry formula. Hard to describe but it does eat topcoat. The below photos are two coats of polish and four coats of topcoat and it is still dull looking and a bit rough to the touch. Cocktail Dress has a subtle sparkle from the red glitter but it's not a blingy glitter.

I think this is a perfect color to flip Hurricane Sandy the finger. If you are in her path please stay safe, warm and dry!

Glitter Spam: Sephora by OPI Jewelry Top Coats

Have you seen the giveaway/raffle?

I caved and bought some of the new Sephora by OPI Jewelry Top Coats which is just a fancy name for glitter. I had a 20% off friends and family code and I love a discount. I also love glitter!! I thought I would spam you. These can be purchased at Sephora which is where I bought mine.

Glitter! Glitter! Glitter!

Come to Papa-razzi has gold, orange and black glitter and I'm really smitten with it. This is one coat over China Glaze Westside Warrior.

The Golden Age has gold and silver glitter but I only see gold. I'm sure the silver is in there but the gold overwhelms everything. This is one coat over Orly Plum Noir.

Lights, Glammer-a, Action has teal, gold and silver glitter. Very pretty but I don't understand the 'a' after 'Glammer'. This is one coat over Models Own Grey Day.

Mauve-ie Star in the Making has purple, pink and gold glitter. I like this one but the purple glitter is light and very close in color to the pink glitter so you see the difference more in the shade. This is one coat over OPI You Don't Know Jacques Suede.

Deborah Lippmann Christmas in the City Set

Have you checked out the raffle/giveaway

Christmas in the City from Lippmann is a Nordstrom exclusive and I'm going to be honest - I regret buying it.  I think the word 'exclusive' pulled me in because I have no willpower. The formula on them is below standard for what I expect from Lippmann and the white and red and pretty standard and not very exciting colors. I was really excited about Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree because glitter! but it didn't live up to what I wanted it to be. So big regret overall from me on this set.

And I woke up this morning and the corner of my nail on my middle finger was broken. Please pardon the uneven nail. How the hell do you break a nail sleeping? I'm blaming one of the cats. I think they are trying to kill me.

Let it Snow is a frosty white with shimmer. The formula on this one was gummy and fluffy and just a big pain in the ass.

Run, Run Rudolph is a bright cheery red with red flake glitter. Standard holiday red but the flake glitter makes it seem different. The only problem is that the glitter disappears on the nail because it's the same color as the polish. I think a golden flake or a deeper red flake would have made a huge difference.

Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree is a black jelly with green and red multi-shaped glitter. Awful formula - thick and gummy and just weird. The glitter doesn't pack the punch I thought it would. I can get a better look using a red and green glitter over black.

L'Oreal Sparklicious

Hey! Check out the raffle!

L'Oreal Sparklicious is from the holiday 2012 Diamond collection from L'Oreal. I saw a display at Rite Aid and like a demented ferret I was drawn to the sparkle. I have to say that the formula on this is good! Two coats alone and it does not eat topcoat at all. I love the hammered silver look of this polish. GLITTER!

I decided to put a matte topcoat over it to see what it looked like and I like it! It looks like crushed metal.

Sinful Colors Winter Wonder

Don't forget to check out the raffle!

I tend to not pay too much attention to Sinful Colors displays but the Winter Shimmer display looked interesting. There are all sorts of glitters and shimmers but most are dupes to other colors but I like the drugstore option. They are cheaper and generally easier to find and purchase. I picked up Winter Wonder even though I knew it was a pretty close dupe to Zoya FeiFei and OPI On Her Majesty's Secret Service.

Winter Wonder is really shimmery and pretty but has a very thin formula. I tried wearing it alone but after four coats I still had visible nail. I also needed to wait a bit for the first coat to settle before I applied the next coat because it pooled and dragged. I found Essie Bobbing for Baubles to be the perfect base coat. It allows the smokey blue/grey base of Winter Wonder to show really well.

These photos don't show the POW factor that the shimmer has in reality. It's not shy at all.
