Christmas in the City from Lippmann is a Nordstrom exclusive and I'm going to be honest - I regret buying it.  I think the word 'exclusive' pulled me in because I have no willpower. The formula on them is below standard for what I expect from Lippmann and the white and red and pretty standard and not very exciting colors. I was really excited about Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree because glitter! but it didn't live up to what I wanted it to be. So big regret overall from me on this set. 

And I woke up this morning and the corner of my nail on my middle finger was broken. Please pardon the uneven nail. How the hell do you break a nail sleeping? I'm blaming one of the cats. I think they are trying to kill me. 

Let it Snow is a frosty white with shimmer. The formula on this one was gummy and fluffy and just a big pain in the ass. 

Run, Run Rudolph is a bright cheery red with red flake glitter. Standard holiday red but the flake glitter makes it seem different. The only problem is that the glitter disappears on the nail because it's the same color as the polish. I think a golden flake or a deeper red flake would have made a huge difference. 

Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree is a black jelly with green and red multi-shaped glitter. Awful formula - thick and gummy and just weird. The glitter doesn't pack the punch I thought it would. I can get a better look using a red and green glitter over black.

I like copper polishes and I really like blue and copper together so Ray of Light caught my interest real fast when I read/heard about it. I purchased this from HSN.com and I've never bought from there but I had a coupon code (C11289 for free shipping and/or C11533 for $5 off $25 or more) and I went through Mr. Rebates for a refund so I paid below retail. I'm glad I did because I can't say that I love it even though the color combination is one of my favorites. The formula isn't what I expect from Deborah Lippmann polishes. It's a bit gummy and thick and I know thinner will help that issue but I don't think I should have to tinker with a brand new polish especially one in this price range. 

I find the flakes to be a pinkish copper and would have preferred a pure copper but that is a personal thing. They do have a subtle duochrome quality where the flakes shift to green at certain angles which is sweet. I'm a bit on the fence on this one. I though I would love it the minute I put it on but I only like it and I have this urge to tweak it. Maybe if the base was a bit lighter so the flakes showed better? I am looking forward to dupes of this color coming out. Hopefully some USA drugstore flake polishes will be seen in the very near future. That would be awesome!

FYI: I did play with The Future is Yours, the third Barneys exclusive, and if you wear it over black it is an exact dupe to Money Now Sleep Later. Alone it is very sheer and a lighter blue with purple duochrome. I passed on it.

This is beautiful but very close to Models Own Aqua Violet but not a 100% dupe. The blue is stronger in this one. Much like The Force. It is closer to Sally Hansen Turquoise Opal than Aqua Violet but Turquoise Opal is a bit more complex. I like it but I do like a good duochrome. It is very vibrant and shimmery. Three coats since it is on the thin side but I expect that from duochrome polishes. You could easily layer it over a black or dark teal.

I was on the fence about this because it's red and I have a number reds. Did I need another one? HaHaHa! *cough* Anyway. It's a really lovely red and looks lush in the bottle but once on the nail it is even more lush. I can't say it's a true duochrome but it does seem to change a bit depending on light. In low light and shade it is a berry burgundy shimmer and in the sun it's a burgundy with hints of gold and lots of shimmer.

Actually, this polish reminds me strongly of OPI La Boheme without the green duochrome aspect. I think a layer of OPI Movin Out or Rent over this would give a very nice substitute for La Boheme. This is two coats and no issues with application or formula.

I like New York. It's a great city to visit. To me, it's a great city to walk. I visit about once a year and most times I come back with nothing. My goal is not to buy but to ramble. I tend to visit around this time of the year because the weather is perfect. The one store (besides Saks) I visit is Barneys. It smells so good in there. I came back with the Deborah Lippmann Edge of Glory set. Sucker = me.

It's a set of two polishes - a black creme and a multi-colored flake topcoat. There is nothing hologrpahic about this set and I am a bit bemused that Ms. Lippmann would use that term when she should know better. Ah, marketing! It's a great flake polishes with blue, green, yellow, orange and hints of red. I do not have Cult Nails Clairvoyant (it sold out before I could get it - dammit) but going by photos it's close but I can't say they are dupes because I just don't know. This works for me because I have been craving blue flakes.

Color is subjective. I'm not a fan of these colors. I prefer my coral colors to be more red or orange. This is too melon and pink. The formula is gorgeous for such a vibrant color. It's not neon which is a plus but I don't love it but only because of the color.

Now the song is stuck in my head but I'm not complaining. This is a periwinkle based blue that has a dusty feel to it. It's more muted and deeper compared to OPI Dating a Royal and more purple and lighter compared to China Glaze Bermuda Breakaway. It's a nice blue that may fill a gap in your blue collection.

I'm not a huge fan of orange unless it's a muted foliage type of orange. Lara's Theme I like and I say that in a surprised tone. It's vibrant and juicy and just a happy color. It's not neon which is a huge plus to me. Honestly, it just makes me grin while wearing it but I could be high from polish vapors. Really lovely formula too.

I wanted to love this. I did! I love the photos I have seen of it but I applied it and immediately wanted to remove it. A very visceral reaction which I sometimes have with glitters. It's too pastel, the glitter is too sparse and the base is too milky. I very much prefer Huemorista Hidden Rainbow and I thought since I love that one and Happy Birthday that I would love this one. Not happening. I was expecting more omph. This is going to be perfect for those that want a softer glitter compared to Happy Birthday.

It looks like some bizarre Easter egg experiment. Actually my first thought was that it looked like the Easter Bunny ejaculated on my fingers. I have re-named it Easter Bunny Happy Ending. *snort* I amuse myself greatly.

Folks asked about a recipe for the confetti cupcakes. One way is to go to the store and pick up a box of confetti/funfetti cake mix and follow the directions. I prefer Duncan Hines. Another way is to make your favorite cake batter and mix in bright colored confetti chips. Frost with cream cheese frosting (or whatever you prefer) and enjoy. Easy!

On to the polish.

Gorgeous formula. No streaks, no pooling and it went on like a dream. It's also a very flattering nude for me. The cost on the other hand is not so dream like. $16 is a splurge and that is way too much for a nude when you can get a nude polish for half that or less from other brands. If you are going to splurge on a Deborah Lippmann get one of the glitters. It's a great polish but not worth the price tag because while it is lovely it's also plain and bit boring.

Deborah Lippmann Today Was A Fairytale

This is the perfect name for this polish. It's very airy and fairy like with it's blueish silver color and glitter. Deborah Lippmann has been doing really well with the glitters lately. I pulled out Orly Pixie Dust to wear as a base and I realized the names kind of go together. Ha! I love amusing myself.

Here is Pixie Dust alone. I do so love this color!



Here is Today Was A Fairytale over it and it looks really great. It's very icy and wintery. I really like this one and I think it will look great over a darker color.
