CND Effects in Copper Pearl

One of my favorite CND Effects. One coat over CND Green Scene and it reminds me of Orly Cool Cucumber which is an old Orly that I no longer have. Bummer. This gives a pinkish/reddish pearl overlay to the base color. Love it.

Smackdown: CND Sugar Sparkle vs Sally Hansen Glass Slipper

These are very close to each other. The differences are subtle with Glass Slipper having larger flakes and a more shimmer in its base. This is the closest I have come to finding anything close to CND Sugar Sparkle which is good since it is not longer available. I think this may satisfy you if you have been wanting Sugar Sparkle.

One coat of each over a grey creme. Feel free to click any image to make it bigger.

CND The Plum Truffle Collection

The Plum Truffle collection is the holiday 2011 offering from CND. Collection is a stretch since it is two polishes - Plum Truffle (creme) and Plum Truffle Sparkle Effect. Plum Truffle is a basic plum creme that is a bit on the lighter side of the plum spectrum. Plum Truffle Sparkle Effect is a very fine pink glitter that gives a light touch of sparkle.

I'm a huge fan of CND and really enjoy the Effect polishes but this is boring. The formula on both are good so no complaint on that end. It's the colors that are "eh" especially for a holiday collection. There are a number of plum polishes and pink glitter isn't that rare either. If you want a great pink glitter I highly suggest checking out SpaRitual Clarity.

Overall I don't think this set is a must have and if you are going to get a set I suggest the CND The Look: Fall/Winter 2011 collection. That set is worth the price of admission.

I bought this at Nailsupplies.us.

Plum Truffle. Ah, macro is so unforgiving. Pardon the sloppy application.

CND The Look: Fall/Winter 2011

I bought this set for the Effect because I'm easy. The set comes with two creme polishes and one Effect. The creme polishes have a wonderful formula - creamy, smooth and dense - but they aren't unique. Sheer 24K Sparkle is the star and I wish it could be purchased outside of the set. Ah well.

Dark Amethyst is a raisin red and not an amethyst. When I think of amethyst I think more purple and more blue. This is a raisin color. Hmph!

Midnight Sapphire is a deep neutral blue creme.

CND Pink Wishes

Pink Wishes is a limited edition set that comes with Pink Wishes Colour and Pink Wishes Pearl Effect. It's pink for October and Breast Cancer awareness. I'm a sucker for CND Effects and the only reason I bought this set was for the Effect. They are fun and I'm always impressed with CND's formula.

Pink Wishes Colour is a pale pink creme. Not a huge fan of this color but I am pleased with the formula. Very smooth and creamy. I needed three coats but if I put on thicker coats I could have done two. But it's pink and pale. Eh.

Pink Wishes Pearl Effect gives a pink pearlescent sheen to the polish. It doesn't cloud the base color which is what I enjoy most about the Effect polishes. It's subtle over the pink and I can see this looking great over a grape purple or teal polish.

CND The Look Jason Wu

I love everything about this little collection. The minute I saw it on TransDesign I snatched it up. The last two CND releases were kind of eh to me but this one, nice! They aren't crazy or bright or even all that earth shattering. They do, however, have a gorgeous formula and are just lovely shades. They're basic without being boring and edgy without being in your face about it. These are all keepers for me.

Miss Wu. A light pearl grey with a satin finish. Not stark at all and looks elegant on me.

Brigitte. A dusty taupey purple. One coat and a really nice soft color.

Sophia. A taupe creme that is lighter and more neutral to the darker ones on the market. Not unique, obviously, but still very nice and goes well with the collection.

Veronica. A juicy pomegranate red. I do love a good red!

Anna. The Effect of the group. It gives a subtle texture/tweed look to a polish. I love tweed and texture so I really like this one. It's subtle and dries a smidge matte but topcoat washes out the texture. It's not going to be to everyone's taste but if you get a chance to try it please do.

CND Perfectly Bare The Look Spring/Summer 2011 Swatches

I think this set is called Perfectly Bare but it is CND The Look Spring/Summer 2011 offering. I saw it on Transdesign and since I really like CND Effects I bought it. I'm such a sucker. It's a set of two polishes - Perfectly Bare creme (Colour) and Perfectly Bare Shimmer (Effects). Wonderful formula on both which I have become accustomed to when it comes to CND. I don't hate it and I don't love it. I'm usually not a fan of "soft" colors and this is a "soft" set. I'm on the fence about it but I can't see reaching for it but only because of the colors and not because of the formula. Color taste is so subjective.

Perfectly Bare is a peach/nude creme. It's on the peach and warm side which is not very flattering on me. If you are looking for a peach nude this is worth looking into. Two coats and smooth with no problems. I did give Seche another try which explains the shrinkage on the sides.

Perfectly Bare Shimmer is a peachy/pink shimmer with little silver flecks. It gives the creme polish a very subtle shimmer and pearl effect. The really do go well together.

Bare Shimmer Effects over black and on bare nail.
