Finger Paints Holiday 2012 Holiday of Wonders

I'm such a sucker for holiday collections and, normally, I really enjoy what Finger Paints' holiday collections. This one is kind of 'eh' - not awful but nothing really exciting or new though they are pretty and cheerful. I bought these at my local Sally and they only had one bottle of each color. I asked the sales clerk and she said that her store only got one bottle of each color. Stingy bastards!

Midnight Sleigh Ride. Gorgeous formula. A mid-tone blue with small flecks of shimmer. It's oddly chilly looking on the nail. This is one coat.

Santa's Magic is a very blingy holo silver glitter. This is one coat over Midnight Sleigh Ride and the glitter applies really well and with good coverage.

Elves Bells is a dull gold glitter with round opalescent pieces. I'm on the fence with this one since I really like the round opalescent pieces but I'm not loving the shade of gold. This is two coats.

HollyDazzle is a cherry red with some really stunning shimmer. Woven within the polish is violet shimmer. Awesome but really difficult to photograph. The little hint of violet makes this a bit different from the standard red but this reminds me strongly of China Glaze Cherry Pie but more dense. Two coats.

Merry Mistletoe is sheer. I mean very, very sheer. I tried wearing it alone but after five (yes five!) coats I still had very obvious nail showing. I decided to layer it over Orly Lucky Duck and it looks just like China Glaze White Cap. Bummer because in the bottle it looks like a grass green with tons of golden shimmer. Two coats  layered over the Orly.

Sparkle and Snowflake is your standard silver and holo glitter. It's a more dense version of China Glaze Fairy Dust. One coat over the above manicure.

Finger Paints Fall of Surprises!

Another one from the Fall 2012 Fall of Surprises collection from Finger Paints and the one I was most excited to buy. It's a great copper that is not too pink or too red or too gold or too bronze but just right. I want to put it on everything. This is one coat over Finger Paints Be-Leaf It Or Not!

Copper glitter! COPPER GLITTER! I love copper.

Here it is in natural low light and in the shade.

Finger Paints Be-Leaf It Or Not!

I'm beginning to think that commercial nail polish companies believe that most people like the "pun" type names they have created for nail polishes. I blame OPI and Suzi. Putting aside the stupid name, Be-Leaf It or Not! (yes the exclamation point is part of the name) is a lovely light peridot/olive green with visible shimmer. It reminds me of the lighter green aspect of Chanel Peridot (and all the dupes). The formula is a bit on the thin side but easy to work with and only needed two and half coats - I went over a few spots which counts for the half.

Reminds me that I haven't worn a green in awhile.

This is from the Fall 2012 Fall of Surprises collection. I purchased mine online from Sally Beauty. If you purchase online don't forget to go through Ebates for 6% back or Mr. Rebates for 8% back. Seriously, always check those sites for coupons and the rebate amount!

Finger Paints Circus Peanuts with Red Angel RA-114

Don't forget about the raffle!

I'm not usually a huge fan of peach shades but sometimes I need to step outside my comfort zone. Circus Peanuts is from the Finger Paints Gumdrops and Lollipops collection. It has a surprisingly nice formula but I'm just not a fan of the color on me. I decided to stamp over it using Red Angel plate RA-114 with a coral polish and it looks more like the (nasty) circus peanuts candy. Well in an abstract kind of way.

Finger Paints Circus Peanuts was sent to review but it can be had at Sally Beauty Supply.

Finger Paints Artistic Azure

Artistic Azure is a blue with a smidge of green added to it. It's dark but never black. This is one of my favorite blue polishes.

Finger Paints Fun-Fetti

Ah, I can now add Finger Paints Fun-Fetti (awesome name!) to my group of confetti polishes. It has a great formula and is filled with small glitter and bigger hex glitter. It's dense so no need to dig around for glitter or wear eight coats of it. It works really well for spot placement which is how I wore it. The base is China Glaze Techno Teal. It's a great manicure to kick off November which is my favorite month because it was the month I was born. I actually like to think of it as the month my parents were blessed with the best thing ever. *snort*

*Fun-Fetti is available at Sally Beauty online and retails for $4.99 and is limited edition. This was sent to me for review but I like to think it was a birthday present from Finger Paints because they love me.*

Finger Paints Holiday 2011 Merry & Bright Collection: The Glitters

The Merry & Bright collection from Finger Paints has three glitters. Not totally unique but they do seem to have a sort of industrial quality to them. All of them have a heavier look to them and aren't a fine glitter. They look like shaved/grated metal pieces on the nail.

Frosty Night. A silver glitter in a clear base. I wore it over a plummy creme. It would look great over a black.

Drummber Boy. A blue glitter in a clear base. This is a perfect holiday season blue to me. It reminds me of the blue that is in silver and blue wrapping paper. So that is how I wore it the first time.

And over a sky blue.

Santa Kisses. A red glitter in a clear base. This one was denser compared to the other two. I decided to wear it over a red creme because I do love a sparkly red nail. This looks like a pair of ruby slippers.

The Merry & Bright collection will be available online and in stores starting November from Sally Beauty Supply. This collection was sent to me for review.

Finger Paints Holiday 2011: Winter Sky

I had the chance to see YSL's Wintergreen in person. It's a beautiful polish in the bottle but not so much on the nail. The shimmer is very, very subtle and the color is darker than I wanted. It's what I call a display polish. While I was applying Winter Sky I realized that this is what I wanted YSL Wintergreen to be - a lighter but still dark teal with obvious shimmer. They are not dupes but this totally sates my lust for Wintergreen.

Gorgeous formula and a really beautiful color. I do find it to be the odd man out in the group but Winter Sky and Comet's Collar are my picks from Merry & Bright collection. I did get some minor staining when removing it but applying some cuticle remover all over the nail took care of any staining.

Finger Paints Holiday 2011: Comet's Collar

Comet's Collar is from the Holiday 2011 Merry & Bright collection. I'm spreading this collection out over a few posts. I started with this one and I really, really like it. Really.

Comet's Collar is a pale golden green with tons of shimmer and it's like having twinkle lights on the nails. A few of the images are blurred to see the multi-colored shimmer better. It's a nice surprise on the nail. I wore it over a green creme since it's a bit sheer. No problems with the formula but I rarely do with Finger Paints. If you plan on checking this color out I highly suggest you check out their green selection. They have some great ones!
