Jessica Cosmetics Spring 2012 Collection: Heavy Petal

I like Jessica and I think they should get more attention. They have a wonderful formula and have released some gems like Hologram Chic among others. Heavy Petal is the Spring 2012 collection and I have no complaints on the formula and the shimmer shades were done beautifully and are the stars of Heavy Petal. I know the colors are inspired by flowers but flowers come in a huge range of colors and I would have loved to have seen something besides pink and purple. I think if the frosts were replaced by a creamy yellow shimmer and a orange/coral shimmer this would have been a great collection. The frosts really pull it down - in my opinion of course. Frosts seem so dated especially with all the wonderful textures and finishes that are available. It's a lovely collection but not a Wow collection.

On to the swatches. Please pardon the dryness!

Rolling Rose is a soft pink with green shimmer. I was surprised at how much I liked this polish. I'm not the biggest pink fan but the formula on this was nice! Two coats and it was opaque with no streaking. It's not too stark nor too white but a nice balanced pink.

Born 2 Pansy is a soft lilac with the same green shimmer. Again, nice formula and the shimmer is a bit more pronounced in this one but difficult to photograph. The shimmer has a slight duochrome quality with a soft purple flash. It's hard to see unless you wiggle your fingers in odd ways but it's there.

Hotter Than Hibiscus is a pink frost. Some folks love frosts but I'm not one of them. Now a chrome would have been neat.

Geranium Gypsy is a lilac frost. It is what it is. I think this would have made a lovely creme.

Dazed Dahlia is a bright cheery pink plum creme. The only creme and nothing new or exciting but it's very juicy looking on the nail.

Witchy Wisteria is a deep purple with fine copper/reddish shimmer. It's a stunner and only needed one coat. Wouldn't this shimmer be awesome in a yellow? It's very much like Zoya Tru
