Orly Cosmic FX Collection

There are a bunch of swatches out there and now there is one more! This post is long and a bit photo heavy since I did some comparing at the end. Remember to click for larger photos. The photos do not do these justice but I tried my best!

I have to say that I love them. I'm a big fan of Orly in general and these sparkly colorful polishes are another hit from them. The formula is really nice and none needed more than three coats. No pooling or bald spots and the sparkle is awesome. The flash of color comes from the sparkle and not so much the base color. They all have a strong flakey/shimmer finish and are just so pretty.

It's Not Rocket Science is a yellow greenish gold base with flashes of a tealy blue.

Lunar Eclipse is blue with a pink/purple flash. The first two photos show the purple and pink.

Galaxy Girl is a brownish red with a greenish teal flash.

Space Cadet has the strongest flash of color. It also seems to have the most sparkle. It has a green base and flashes a pinkish/purple. The mix of colors in this one makes it complex.

Halley's Comet is a sparkly turquoise with hints of green.

Out Of This World is a grape purple with a slight pink flash which is subtle.

Now are they dupes for anything? I thought I would do some comparing.

It's Not Rocket Science (left) and SpaRitual Optical Illusion (right). Very, very close. Optical Illusion looks to be a tad deeper in color.

Lunar Eclipse (left), Orly Royal Navy (middle) and Sally Hansen HD in Laser (right). Royal Navy isn't a dupe but it is that same vibrant blue. If you like Royal Navy you will like Lunar Eclipse. I'm going to try layering them to see what it looks like. Laser is very, very close but a bit more sheer.

Galaxy Girl (left), Misa Embroidered Emerald (middle) and Urban Decay Bruise (right). The base color is the same on all three but Galaxy Girl has shimmer and bit more depth. That goes for Maybelline Vanishing Venus and Chelsea Salsa.

Space Cadet (left) and Nubar Purple Beach (right). Ok they are nothing alike but I don't have anything like Space Cadet in my stash. They do compliment each other in that they both flash in the same color family. So if you like Purple Beach but want something like it but with shimmer/sparkle Space Cadet is your answer.

Halley's Comet (left), Zoya Charla (middle) and OPI Catch Me In Your Net (right). All three are very, very close. In fact, they are identical to my eye. So if you have one (or both) you can feel safe passing on Halley's Comet. Photos do not do any of these justice!

Out Of This World (left), Zoya Mimi (middle) and Zoya Julieanne (right). Out Of This World is very closer to Julieanne. Mimi is lighter in color than both of them. I had to do some color correcting with this one (dang purples!) but they are pretty accurate.

My two cents - I think Galaxy Girl and Space Cadet are the stand outs of this collection. I would add It's Not Rocket Science if SpaRitual Optical Illusion didn't exist. I would actually pay full price for those two (or three). While the other three are gorgeous you can find dupes especially if you have the Zoya Sparkle collection. Do I reget buying them all? Not one damn bit!

I agree about Space Cadet; it really does look like a unique shade, and I think that's one that I'll definitely pick up. The others look good as well, but it's not calling out to me as much as Space Cadet.

out of this world vs julieanne- it looks like that the shimmer in julieanne is a tad bluer than out of this world... but I'm still not sure which one to buy ^^

Great pics! Thanks so much for the comparison shots, they're so helpful (esp. for those of us on a budget)!

amusedPolish - I think they are both gorgeous. The Orly are limited edition so I would go with that one. If you still want the Zoya wait for a code and get that one next.
