Jessica Cosmetics Gold Leaf Luxe 18k Topcoat

I have picked the winner of the giveaway and she responded. I want to thank everyone for entering! Thank you!! On to the polish.

I was not going to buy any of the gold leaf topcoat polishes that have been released lately. I made my own awhile back and did not like it at all. It was too crude and clunky on the nail. I also think they are easy to make for a fraction of the cost. The only issue I see with making your own is that gold leaf is fussy to work with and it is time consuming to get the pieces shredded finely. It can also turn green depending on the base used. Pain in the butt overall.

Having said that, I am enjoying the Jessica 18k Gold Leaf polish. It's easy to work with and the pieces are finer and it's much more refined compared to my franken. This was sent for review and I honestly don't think I would have purchased it unless I found it for cheap because this is an expensive splurge but I am enjoying it now that I have it. It does dry to a satin finish but topcoat makes it shiny again.

One coat over Jessica Notorious which is a brown based vampy red shimmer. There is something so lush about red and gold together.

One coat over a greenish turquoise franken that I made that is awful. Don't mind the creases and ridges - those are all from the base color.

Golden Rose Matte Velvet Collection: Part Two

Part two of the Golden Rose Matte Velvet collection. You can see part one here. Again, great formula and a decent color range. If you do a lot of layering these are a great option to have in your collection. I purchased these at Golden Rose USA.

106 is a velvety and lush red.

107 is a gorgeous and vibrant amethyst purple. This is a smidge darker in reality since I had to color correct in Photoshop. It photographed more blue but it is about 90% correct.

108 is a charcoal grey. It reminds me of pencil lead.

109 is a blue based charcoal grey or a deep steel blue grey.

110 is a deep neutral charcoal grey. This is a great one for layering.

Golden Rose Matte Velvet Collection: Part One

I got new toys in the mail recently and they are the Golden Rose Matte Velvet polishes. I am not a big fan of matte polishes but I do like polishes with a suede/velvet finish. I have a large number of creme polishes and a few matte topcoats so a basic matte doesn't really move me but I do like a finish with texture. I got my first Matte Velvet polish in a swap and when I saw that the rest were available from Golden Rose USA I snatched them up. I decided to show them all to you so you can see them. They don't have names but are numbered which is kind of annoying.

I had no issues with formula on any of them. All are two coats but I could easily use a thicker application for one coat. Dry time was quick. I bought these at Golden Rose USA and they are inexpensive which I like! There are ten total and I'll show the first five today and the remaining five tomorrow.

101 is a sky blue.

102 is a cornflower blue with a more obvious velvet finish.

103 is a shade of royal blue. A vibrant blue without being too loud.

104 is a denim blue.

105 is a teal green. Yum! One of my favorites.

Maybelline Color Show Ruby Rhinestones and Sea-Quins

The last two that I bought from the Maybelline Color Show Sequins collection. Again, thinner may be your friend with these but just a few drops made a huge difference. These are both two coats with no base color. Ruby Rhinestones doesn't have black glitter just darker red/raspberry glitter. It would be cool with black glitter added to it. Sea-Quins is my second favorite from this collection. It's very pretty!!

You can see the others here: Rose Bling, Lavender Sparkle, Sapphire Masquerade, and Cocktail Dress.

Ruby Rhinestones.

Sea-Quins.

Maybelline Color Show Sapphire Masquerade

Don't forget to check out the raffle/giveaway!

Another from the Maybelline Color Show Sequins collection. This one is awesome! I did add about eight drops of thinner and it made a huge difference. If you find these and pick up a few make sure to have some thinner on hand because it took it from "blech" to "yum".

I think Sapphire Masquerade may be my favorite. It's sultry and vibrant and sparkly and shimmery all at once. It has little pale violet iridescent bits that you can see along the edge of the nail in the below photos. This really glows. Two coats with no base color and only one coat of topcoat. So pretty!
