BYS Through the Looking Glass

I have very old copies of Alice's Adventures in Wonderld and Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There. They belonged to my Mom from when she was a wee girl and she handed them down to me when I was a wee girl. I love both and re-read them often. I enjoy them more as an adult than when I was a kid. I don't collect anything having to do with the stories but this is a feel good polish for me because of the connection to the books. My books are in really poor condition because they are so well loved. I think it may be time to buy new copies of each. It's so hard to let go though!

Why yes, it is a pretty good dupe of OPI's Absolutely Alice. I wore this over Orly Blue Suede. It's pretty and it makes me smile.

OPI Smitten With Mittens

OPI does Holiday collections really well. Pity they are usually limited edition. Smitten With Mittens is a sparkly red that has golden glitter and it just shines. So pretty! This was part of the 2009 Holiday collection. Little brat was hard to photograph though!

Nars Desperado

I had a few misgivens about this polish once I had in my (greedy) hands. I thought it would be too sheer, too warm and it would show brush strokes. Ah, so glad to be proven wrong which is rare! Two coats and it dried smooth. It leans toward a muted old gold color but is still bright and has sublte shimmer. This won't appeal to everyone but I would love to see this on someone with a dark skintone. I think it would look stunning!

Huemorista Hidden Rainbow

I caved and ordered the Luck Struck collection from Huemorista. I am a sucker for greens. Hidden Rainbow is not green but a light grey with confetti glitter. The glitter did sink a bit but a quick shake took care of that and I only needed two coats. Sweet. It's not a stark grey and the glitter reminds me of Funfetti cupcakes. Actually a few posts I have read lately have reminded me of Funfetti cupcakes. That must be a sign that I have to make some and eat them.

China Glaze Laser Lime

The Tronica collection is mine. I wasn't looking for it and I wasn't planning on looking for it. I figured if I found it that would be great but if I didn't I wouldn't be upset. I knew going in that they wouldn't be mind blowing in their holo aspect but I have to say that I like them. I'm actually pleased and not as let down in them as I thought I would be. You don't know how happy this makes me because it seems I have been more disappointed than pleased in new polishes of late.

I was drawn to Laser Lime (green!) so I wore it first. The holo is subtle but it is there and you don't have to squint to see it. It's a vibrant cheery green. Now the best part? This is after two days of wear and a really aggresive session with a nail file. I tend to attack my nails and saw at them. Bad but it works. I'm really suprised at the wear of this and impressed! I think this collection is starting to show up at Sally stores now. I was able to snag these at a little supply shop here for cheap, cheap, cheap.
