Gold Leaf Franken

Rococo Gold Leaf Lacquer intrigued me but I couldn't see spending that on a polish I was uncertain about. I decided to make my own with gold leaf and clear polish. Pain in the butt! Tearing the gold leaf to little pieces and putting it in the clear polish was tedious. One bottle turned green but this one has been sitting for about two months and it's still good. It was a nuisance to apply since I had to dig for pieces to put on the nail.

The best part? I don't like it. *laughs* At least I didn't buy the Rococo. Here it is over Kleancolor Fashionista.

Anybody want this and the silver one I made?

I actually love it! I think it looks great with that color. I would love to see the silver one too :)

I wonder if you could apply the gold leaf directly to the nail? HMMmmm. What don't you like the color or the application?

I tried putting the leaf directly on the nail and it went everywhere except the nail! Ugh! I'm not liking the color, the application, the pieces and just everything. Ah well but that is the fun of making a polish - the mystery.

I like it!
It reminds me of....rococo. The art period though.

i made a gold leaf franken, actually liked it - but it melted and turned green as well. what clear polish did you use that didn't melt it all to a green goo mess?

@Jennifer - send me an email at KMLLucidBubble at gmail dot com.

@nikole - I used a clear from Dare to Wear that came in a set. Wet N Wild turned green on me. I used a bit of Seche to try it out at first and that didn't turn green.

I would love the gold foil! You have inspired me to make one when I have time. Is Fashionista a dupe for RBL No More War?

@loodie - I would throw this on the street but never money!

@faerieberry - If you want this gold just send me an email. It is a pretty close dupe to No More War.

Aww, too bad this was so hard to work with. I like the color combination but not that it doesn't sit flat on the nail.

I just made a gold leaf top coat using NYC grand central station and gold flakes. I basically used a metal file and an orange stick to grind it down really fine though. That seemed to make it more appealing.
