Essie Smokin Hot

I only bought three colors from the Essie 2010 winter collection. Smokin Hot is the first one I decided to wear. I like this one the more I wear it. Smokin Hot is a purple based smokey dark taupe. It's not a true taupe and it's not a true purple. It's like a mix of purple, taupe and grey. It reminds me of a less purple SpaRitual Solitude and it may be close to Models Own Purple Grey. I'll have to swatch them together but going from memory I think they are close.

These photos are into the second day of wearing it and it is holding up like iron. Essie usually doesn't wear that well for me so this is a nice suprise. I think if you are a taupe and purple lover you will like this one. The dusty and dark quality makes it different from the standard taupe polish. I bought mine on Ebay for a really good price. Take that retail!

And because I can't leave well enough alone I added CND Effect in Violet Shimmer over it. It really looks like Chanel Paradoxal like this but the purple shimmer is more pronounced with this combo. *whispers* It's also cheaper!

A bit later I thought I would add some glitter so I topped it with Northern Lights silver holo topcoat.

Ohhh! It really does...oops, someone else has said that already. But it does! And I love how the shimmer here is a lot more pronounced than Paradoxal. :)
