Swatches of American Apparel New Colors

I got the new American Apparel polishes that I ordered two weeks ago. Not the quickest delivery but they were wrapped really, really well. Yay and about time. See? Double bubble wrapped and in plastic bags.

First, my thoughts. I can see a number of these colors being considered ugly by some. I happen to really like non-traditional colors so I am enjoying them. The formula was either great with two coats or thick and needing thinner. This may be due to the fact that they were ice cold when delivered so I will see what they are like after adding thinner. Not all of the colors are original but I have to say that I don't regret buying any of them. They all seem to go together in an odd way and I appreciate that they are a creme finish.

You will notice that my nails are shorter. The cabinet attacked me again and I broke my right ring finger. Jerk! The next few posts after this one will have my longer nails so don't scratch your head over that. On to the polish!

Port is a vampy burgundy red that isn't too heavy on the brown. Not an original color but pretty and a two coat formula. It's dark but doesn't look black. Very sexy.

Cameo Blue is lovely. It has a slight dusty feel but is still bright. Reminds me of the blue you see on china pieces or on cameo jewerly. I really like this one and it was two coats.

Cocoa is a light brownish taupe. It's very plush and comfy looking. The first coat went on streaky but the second coat covered really well. I do like these brown/taupe colors.

Raccoon is a dark nuetral brown. A vampy brown and a color I like. Formula on this one was thick and on the syrup side. I'm sure thinner will take care of that but you can see the thickness in the photos. Reminds me of China Glaze X or Essie Little Brown Dress.

African Violet is a deep violet. Two coats but could have done one if I were careful. I had to tweak this since it photographed too blue. Reminds me of SpaRitual Illume and an Orly I am drawing a blank on.

Rouge is a deep dusty pink. I like this one and it reminds me of China Glaze Nasty.

Make Up is a brownish nude. Remember the trend of the brown/pink nude lip of the 90's? This is what that reminds me of - MAC Twig to be exact.

Trenchcoat is a muted mustard. Formula was a bit thick as you can see but nothing a little thinner can't fix.

Echo Park is a soft dove grey with no starkness. Yum!

Mannequin is a pink based nude. Not stark which suprised me. The ripples you see are from the top coat but this will need some thinner. It's thick but not streaky which I can deal with. I can see this not being flattering on a number of folks but since I am pale it looks good. Well, I think anyway.

MacArthur Park is a pea soup green. Not attractive but I love it. Two coats and a good formula.

Army Jacket is a soft sage green. Formula was a bit sheer but only two coats were needed. I really like this one!!

Whew! There you have them!

Models Own Nude Beige

Nude Beige makes my fingers look elegant and long. Love that and the formula was really nice too. *ahem* If anyone in the UK wants to arrange for a swap so I can get my hands on some more Models Own polishes I wouldn't be opposed. Like, oh say, the Car Key collection.

This happened a bit later in the day. It's on my right hand (which you all rarely see) and I refuse to cut the rest. A cabinet door attacked me. It was awful and I am lucky to walk away alive!

I decided to add glitter so I put Revlon Street Wear Nightmare over it.

How Long Does It Take...

To get to the end of a 32 ounce bottle of Zoya Remove+? It took me 7 months and it is the only polish remover I use except for cleaning up my nail stamps and such. I change my polish at least once a day and that doesn't count the swatching I do. It lasted much longer than I thought it would and it breaks down to about $3.50 a month. Not a bad deal!

A moment of silence!

Don't feel bad! I have two more bottles waiting for me.

Essie Going Incognito

Going Incognito is a green with blue undertones. It's really shiny and the formula was good but I'm not sure I love it on me. I like it but something is keeping me from loving it.

Nubar Grass Green Glitter

I received my Nubar order a few days ago and decided to wear Grass Green Glitter first. I'm not a huge fan of glitter but I do like some of the glitters from Nubar. They have texture like extra fine sugar and aren't gritty or bumpy. They are also really easy to remove compared to other glitters. Grass Green is a green (duh!) glitter but it also has sparse gold glitter. I didn't know this! I thought it was a straight up green.

I applied it over BB Couture Poison Ivy.

BB Couture Poison Ivy

Today is Thanksgiving here in the US and I plan on eating, napping, eating and maybe another nap. Ahh, the life of a glutton!

I'm still on a green kick and Poison Ivy is a great plant green. Reminds of what plants look like after a heavy rain and they are flourishing. It's a yellow based green creme. Great formula and only two coats were needed.

H&M Envy Me

This was sent to me by the lovely Sminkan and man it is a beauty! It's an emerald green shimmer with a mix of teal that gives it a slight duochrome look. One coat is all that is needed. I really, really like this one!

Here you can see the green with the flash.
