Sephora Rocker Chic

Something I do - I read a color description and go "Ooo!" and order the polishes. I fall for this with Sephora By OPI all the damn time. I have a few that I really like (Metro Chic, Dark Room) but I have found that the formula is inconsistent and they are $9 which makes my cheap soul wince.

I saw the Rocker Chic collection and decided to purchase a few. Well six to be exact. My opinion - they are unoriginal and really nothing to write home about. In fact, the written descriptions are way better than the actual polish. I regret buying them and that doesn't happen often.

The photos were taken under my Ott because the weather here has been funky. These photograph way better than they look in real life.

Just A Little Dangerous is described as an opaque metallic amethyst. It is not opaque and it is not metallic. It is amethyst. It's an amethyst shimmer that needed 4 coats to be opaque. Save your money and get Milani Totally Cool, Color Club Electronica or China Glaze Let's Groove.

Go My Own Way is described as a sheer muted teal blue with fine blue glitter. I really, really think they got the description mixed up with Club Scene Queen. This isn't sheer or teal. This is a muted greyish blue with sparse (very sparse) blue glitter. The base color of this remind me of OPI Glacier Bay Blues. I found this one to be frosty. Pity because I really like the color.

Club Scene Queen is described as a sheer smoky gray with fine blue glitter. Description is wrong! This is a really sheer teal with shimmer. I layered this over black. If you want a great blackened teal check out Barielle Blackened Bleu or China Glaze Rodeo Fanatic. If you want a shimmery teal/blue with some depth try Sally Hansen Laser.

Already Famous is described as a sheer pewter with medium champagne and silver glitter. No pewter tones to this at all. To me, this is a straight up champagne gold. The formula on this one was tricky and it tended to pool and give me bald spots. I suggest Orly Foil Fx collection for interesting metal shades.

Rock His World is described as an opaque deep cranberry. A brown based cranberry red. Not unique and their are way better formulas for this color.

Do I Know You is described as an opaque dusty rose beige. I have no idea why I bought this one. I'm not usually drawn to colors like this. I do like this one but, again, the formula was touchy and it's not very original. Diamond Cosmetics Smokey Rose is a good option if you are looking for something like this.

So yeah. Not impressed.

Thanks for the review and suggested alternatives--really helpful. Lol, now I won't be tempted to get these.

Thank you for this post. I was ready to take the plunge on about 6 of these too, all the metallics pretty much. Now I must rethink these.

Thanks for posting these! I had planned to get a few, but now I can save my money for other polishes. :-)

Thanks! I am hoping to find a swatch of Dating the Drummer... it looks interesting.

Wow. This is sad... I'd be absolutely heartbroken. But at least you got a good blog post out of it, and a warning to everyone else?

Hopefully you'll find a bunch of great polishes on sale to make up for this!

Oh, gosh. So happy you swatched these! They definitely aren't as pretty as their descriptions. I saw a swatch of Dating the Drummer on another blog (can't remember which!) and it was completely underwhelming, also.

Sorry you didnt like any of them. The purple is pretty even if it is sheer. The only $OPI I have (Meet For Drinks) is also sheerer than I'd like.

Phew, I could pass on every single one of these! Thanks for a great post and your honest opinion, SOPI are just too pricey for me to just pick these up when I really don't need any of them.

Aww, all the shimmers here are really really really pretty! But there are DEFINITELY dupes, you're right. It's such a pity!! :(

It is a pity but I am trying to think of something to do with them. Layering and such. Or franken something. I'm sure I will get some use out of them.
