Color Appreciation: Blue Creme Polishes

Hello! I hope that 2012 greeted you in a good way. Laura gave me the idea of doing a color appreciation post and I decided to start with blue. Blue is a close second to green as being a favorite polish color for me and there are a number of different ones that I really like. It will blue all week and I decided to start it off by showing a few blue creme polishes that I enjoy.

Barry M Cyan Blue

Barry M Cobalt Blue

Essie Shelter Island

Models Own Betty Blue

Petites Color Fever Creme Blue

Sally Hansen Pacific Blue

Sally Hansen Gray by Gray - not exactly blue on me but it does have a blue tinge.

Barry M Indigo

Oh man. This polish is stunning. I got this in a swap with Shel from If It Shines It's Mines! One coat and it's a gorgeous indigo that is both deep and vibrant. I had to tweak it in Photoshop since it came out too blue. It's not 100% accurate but it's close.

Pardon the tip wear. I was abusing my nail file again.

Jesse's Girl Fire Fly

This usually has a green hue to it but I think the blue base cancels it out. I think a darker base color would work better to show the green. This is close to China Glaze White Cap except White Cap is more golden. This is one coat over Barry M Cyan Blue.

Craked Grey Duotone

The best part about crackle polish, for me, is doing a duotone look. It reminds me of leather. Actually it reminds me of this huge faux leather recliner we had growing up. I would hide behind it (while drawing on the walls) and spy on my brother while he smooched his girlfriends. Great blackmail material since he was dating sisters and they had no clue. *snicker*

This is Barry M Grey with China Glaze Cracked Concrete. I have found that crackle loves thinner. I advise adding a few drops if you are having issues with the polish cracking. It makes a difference.

Barry M Dusky Mauve

I finally just bought Barry M Dusky Mauve off of Ebay after wanting it for awhile. I have read (and seen) that this is a dupe for Chanel Paradoxal and I liked the look of it from photos. I am a bit underwhelmed. The formula is nice and it wears well but I suppose the hype just didn't transfer well to me which is odd because I really like taupey colors. I don't hate it but I think I would like it more if the base was a tad lighter in color so the purple came through more. Though it is a bit more vibrant in the sun. Ah, fickle.
