Orly Boho Bonnet

I had to take Thom to the vet yesterday because he was clawing at his mouth and growling and hissing. I thought at first that he was choking so I stuck my finger into his mouth to check. He wasn't choking but I did notice that he has a nasty looking tooth in his mouth. Poor fuzzbutt. He is on antibiotics and will return to the vet on Friday morning to have a tooth (or two) pulled and some extensive cleaning done. I do have to say that Thom is a stud! He was so very good at the vet and is taking his pills without complaint. It doesn't hurt that I offer him chicken before and after but he is just a sweetheart.

This is a lovely polish. It's both blue and grey with a soft but not stark look on the nail. I planned on putting some glitter over it but never got the chance.

Look at that face! So sweet.

Orly High on Hope

This manicure shows some wear because I applied my basecoat as cuticle oil by mistake. I keep my oil mix in a China Glaze bottle and it was sitting next to my China Glaze Fast Forward and I wasn't paying attention. Ew, crusty cuticles.

High on Hope is a really gorgeous polish. It's as if you mixed a little bit of Orly Space Cadet with OPI Ink and got this polish. The below is three coats with topcoat. It's a beautiful polish and my photos just don't do it justice.

Here it is in the shade and partial sun. You can see the color flash here.

Orly Coachella Dweller

Sometimes a nice creme is what is needed. Coachella Dweller is from the newest Orly collection and it has a sort of soft diffused look on the nail. This is two coats with topcoat.

Orly Miss Conduct - It's A Holo!

Last weekend to enter the giveaway!

That's right - Orly Miss Conduct from the 2012 Naughty or Nice collection is a holo! It's not a linear holo but more of a sparkle/shimmer holo. Actually this reminds me of a magenta/pink version of Glitter Gal Red Sparkle. Miss Conduct is very, very pretty and was a huge surprise when I applied it because I thought it was a glitter. It's vibrant and cheerful and I'm glad I decided to buy it. You can see Halo here from the same collection.

Sneaky Orly! I forgive you for giving this polish a name a campy drag queen would use because yum!

A bad low light photo but you can see it still sparkles and shines.

Orly Halo

Orly Halo is from the 2012 Naughty or Nice collection which is Orly's holiday collection. Nothing like a holiday color in August. Weird. I bought this one and Angel Eyes and I may need to buy the other two glitters. They are pretty sweet! Nice formula and I am wearing two coats of Halo alone and had no issues. I can see this needing thinner in the future but, to me, that is expected of glitters.

Halo carries on my craving for lighter feeling colors with the combination of silver and gold. This reminds me of OPI Spark De Triomphe but a bit deeper and more sparkly since Halo has the addition of little tiny glitter sparkles. When you move your fingers the little glitters spark like fireworks but much more subtle. It's kind of like the glitter version of Jessica Champagne Bubbles and I bet they would look great layered together.

I bought this at TransDesign.

Very bad photo in low light to show what it looks like in a more "natural" setting. You can see the little bits of gold in between the silver.

Orly Snowcone

Layniefingers shared this cool tutorial about using scrapbook punches to create nail art. Very fun! I don't own any of those punches but I did wonder if they would work. I may have to buy some now.

I really like this color and the formula is wonderful - one coat. It's really flattering on me which is always a plus for a nail polish. A basic creme but not boring.

Color Appreciation: Blue

Finishing up blue week with a random assortment of blue polishes. I hope you enjoyed it!

Nubar Absolute. Very soft and delicate on the nails.

Nabi Abysis. Very blingy, inexpensive and will need thinner. The name throws me because I don't think it was named after the antibody software.

China Glaze Kaleidoscope Him Out.

Lumene Live It Up. This has fine sparse silver glitter in it.

Color Club Sexy Siren. The entire Glitter Vixen collection is wonderful!

Orly Sweet Peacock. This has such an amazing glow to it.

Orly Rock The World

Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes. I got a question about the squirrel and what happened to him. Well, he wanted to become an astronaut so we tied him to a bottle rocket and he was never seen again. It was pretty sweet and my brother and I charged each kid a $1 to watch the launch.

This polish just shines so very much. It satisfies my inner ferret that demands sparkly things. Stunning. A great formula as well. Ah, Orly I have such a crush on you.

Orly Bubbly Bombshell

This may look purple in some photos but it isn't. It's a deep bright magenta. It does photograph purple so I did some tweaking and what you see is what I see when I look at my nails. It looks very much like Nubar Petunia Sparkle.

A bright happy color for my newly trimmed nails. A few things pushed me to file them down. I snapped one when my hand slipped opening a drawer. Oh, the cursing that I did when that happened. I poked myself in the eye with another. I set one on fire while lighting a candle. Good times. *sigh*

Orly Lucky Duck

A green creme. Not much else to say about it. It's green so I like it.

Orly Nite Owl

I feel bad for Nite Owl. It seems to get overshadowed by Fowl Play when it shouldn't. This is a gorgeous nude/taupe/stone color with woven shimmer that gives it a sense of texture. It's really a lovely polish with a nice formula. Good job Orly!

Orly Here Comes Trouble

Love this. LOVE! It's so bright and sparkley and just a happy color. It also looks really good on me. This has moved into my top 10 glitter polishes. It has two different size glitters and it doesn't eat top coat. It really shines even in low light.

Orly Rage

This is a perfect mix of warm and cool that suits my skin. It also makes me look less pale (not a huge fan of that) and my nails longer/bigger (love that). It's magic!
